Overview

Capital’s Masters (Adult) Club Sweep programs provide a fun and challenging environment for rowers of various experience levels, from those who have completed Capital’s Intermediate and Novice (INR) program to rowers with years of experience at the college and masters level. Capital Sweep programs provide rigorous training and high-level coaching, while fostering a positive community for rowers through social events and community service.

Objectives

  • Refinement of body mechanics

  • Physical conditioning

  • Emphasis on boat issues such as set, run, and timing

  • Development of both sprint and head racing tactics

  • Development of coxing skills

  • Understanding of basic rigging

Volunteering:
Capital Rowing Club is a volunteer-run organization, and members are expected to volunteer at least six (6) hours each season. Opportunities can be found in the Volunteer section.

Morning Advanced / Intermediate Sweep
Monday–Friday 5:30am-7:00am

Evening Advanced / Intermediate Sweep:
Monday–Thursday 6:30pm-8:15pm
Saturday 9:00-11:00am

Sunday Advanced / Intermediate Sweep:
Sunday 7:00am-9:00am

Attendance:
There is no attendance requirement for the Masters Sweep programs. However, athletes interested in racing are encouraged to have consistent attendance.

Racing

Although optional, all members are encouraged to race in regattas, and Capital participates in both sprint (1k) and head (3-6km) races throughout the region.
