Race Information

For Members of Capital

 

Capital Rowing Club is pleased to announce the 13th annual Capital Sprints.  The regatta will be held on Saturday, July 7. 

 

There will be Adaptive, Junior, Open, and Master's categories.  The novice categories will not have age requirements.  The AA Master's category will also be recognized.  We hope to provide great competition for all entry interests.  All races will be 1000 meters.

 

 

 Registration

Register through Ronin Racing.

 

Eights:  $85

Fours/Quads: $45

Doubles/Pairs: $25

Singles: $15

 

Due to the anticipated size of the regatta, some events are capped as follows

  • All OPEN events: Limited to two heats (limit two entries per club)
  • MASTERS 4+ events:  Limited to four heats (limit 4 entires per club)
  • MASTERS 1x, 2x, and 8+ events:  Limited to three heats (limit three entries per club)

 

 Directions

The race will be held at the new Anacostia Community Boathouse located at 1900 M Street S.E.; Washington, D.C.  20003.

 

 Driving and Parking

Information on driving and parking can be found in this document.  

Do not drive directly to the Boathouse.  Download and follow the instructions.  Additionally, there will be signs that will lead you to the parking lot. Cars will be directed to unload passengers at the Pedestrian Bridge on the RFK access road then proceed to RFK Stadium Lot 8 to park.  A shuttle will bring only the driver back to the Pedestrian bridge.  It is a short walk across the bridge to the boathouse.  Cars will need a parking pass.   Download the parking pass.

Parking at the boathouse will be set aside for handicapped individuals participating in the Adaptive events.

 Post-race Barbecue

Capital will again be hosting a cookout at the conclusion of all races Please bring any food/water provisions you'll need during the day, as races will go untill about 4:30 pm).  We're asking clubs to contirbute to the potluck.  Capital will supply the burgers and hotdogs.  We ask our guests to bring the following:

  • Last names A-H: Dessert
  • Last names I-R: Side dish
  • Last names S-Z: Drinks

 History

This is the 13th annual Capital Sprints Regatta.  What began as a friendly scrimmage among cross-town rivals is now a summer racing tradition, with competition from all over the D.C. area and up and down the East Coast.
