Congrats CRC!!!

Capital Rowing Club's Competitive Men and Women's Team, complimented by rowers from the CLUB AM & PM and Sculling programs (and lots of cheering teammates who made the trip), competed this past weekend at the USRA Masters National Championship.  It is the pinnacle event to the sprint training and racing season. This event brings masters rowers from all over the country together for competition.

On the national stage CRC made an impressive statement placing an overall 4th out of 147 teams.  The 2009 United States Rowing Association's Masters National Championship Regatta, held in Camden NJ, was the largest masters national championship in history boasting over 1,800 entries.  The trailers were jam packed, boat rigging was too close for comfort, hundreds of rowers filled small spots of shade, and making it through this maze to the launch dock on time proved challenging. Yet despite all of the hurdles the regatta ran seamlessly with events racing down the course every 4 minutes, 4 days straight. Well done club!...we made it the line for every race on time!

Together we, ALL CRC members, share in this piece of club success.  In addition to the rowers who raced at the regatta, team success is built by all CRC members. It comes from every member who has helped with a novice class, worked to fix a launch, locked a gate left open, filled the gas tanks, washed boats, volunteered for Cap Sprints, the list goes on and on as you know. Every action builds the strength and the success of our volunteer run club - on the water and in our community - as we strive to provide rowing opportunities for all who wish to participate in the sport. Capital Rowing Club has the best spirit and the greatest drive for success!

Again, Congratulations Capital Rowing Club!  Count the medals and check out the pictures....
