You are invited to row and compete in Capital Rowing Club’s Head of the Anacostia Regatta and Apple Pie Contest on Saturday September 28, 2013. The racing starts at 8:00 am at the Anacostia Community Boathouse located at 1900 M Street SE, Washington, DC.
The regatta is set in the heart of the Nation’s capital and has lots of flare and fun. In addition to a racing, the regatta includes an apple pie contest followed and delicious apple pie and ice cream (for the a la mode lovers) for rowers and spectators after the races.

Regatta
The regatta will include sweep and sculling events for junior, master, open and adaptive rowers. The course length is 2.5 miles and is a head-style race.
Junior is defined as a competitor who, in the current calendar year, does not attain the age of 19.
Master is defined as a competitor who has attained or will attain the age of 21 during the current calendar year. A competitor’s age is determined as of December 31 of the current calendar year.
Novice is defined as a Master who finished a novice rowing class less than one year from the date of the race.
Open has no restrictions.

Best Apple Pie Contest
The pie contest is for bakers of all ages and skill. This year’s apple pie contest is sure to be phenomenal. The intense judging starts once racing is finished, around 1 pm.

Parking
Parking for rowers and spectators will be on the RFK access road. Please follow the directions from Virginia, Maryland and DC. Boat trailers, car top scullers, race officials and handicapped parking is available at the ACBA Boathouse, 1900 M Street SE, Washington, DC.

Traveling from Virginia via I-395 - From VA, follow 395 North, across the Potomac, approximately 3 miles - Once past the Maine Avenue exit, stay in the left lane of the freeway, following signs for Pennsylvania Avenue. (I-395 will exit to the right to the Capitol and Senate buildings. Do not follow I-395 North; stay left for the stadium.) - Pass the exit for I-295. Stay in the far left lane and proceed straight in the direction of RFK Stadium/DC Armory. - The road will split at the Pennsylvania Exit. Stay in the left lane and travel through the tunnel towards the end of the freeway. (Do not take the ramp up to Pennsylvania Ave.) - The road will flow directly into the RFK Access Road, where you will be greeted by parking volunteers. - Please ignore any signs that say “Restricted Access”, “Official Vehicles Only”. We are approved to use this route to reach the RFK Access Road for regatta parking. - Follow pedestrian bridge to boathouse.
Traveling From Maryland/I-95 South/I-295 South/US 50 West - From 95 South, take the Beltway/I-95 South/I-495 East to Exit 22B—Balt/Wash Pkwy South - At the split with US 50, stay to the left toward I-295/Alexandria - (From US 50 West, take the MD-201 S/Kenilworth Ave exit toward I-295/Alexandria) - I-295 S/MD-201 S becomes DC-295. Continue on DC-295 S 4.2 mi. - Take right-hand exit for I-695 W. - After crossing the bridge, take first exit for M Street/Washington Navy Yard. - Turn left at stoplight onto M St SE. - At second stoplight, turn right onto 9th St SE. - After two blocks, take a slight right to merge onto the Southeast Freeway. Get into the left lane. - The road will split at the Pennsylvania Exit. Stay in the left lane and travel through the tunnel toward the end of the freeway. (Do not take the ramp up to Pennsylvania Ave.) - The road will flow directly into the RFK Access Road, where you will be greeted by parking volunteers. - Please ignore any signs that say “Restricted Access”, “Official Vehicles Only”. From NW/SW/NE DC - Get on Southeast/Southwest Freeway going East (toward the Anacostia) - Stay in left lane, past exits for I-395 and I-295. - At split with Pennsylvania Avenue, stay left and go under tunnel. - The road will flow directly into the RFK Access Road, where you will be greeted by parking volunteers. - Please ignore any signs that say “Restricted Access”, “Official Vehicles Only”. We are approved to use this route to reach the RFK Access Road for regatta parking. - Follow pedestrian bridge to boathouse.
Directions from Boathouse to RFK Access Road Parking - From boathouse (M St SE) turn right at third light onto 9th St SE - After two blocks, take slight right onto the Southeast Freeway. Get into the left lane. - The road will split at the Pennsylvania Exit. Stay in the left lane and travel through the tunnel toward the end of the freeway. (Do not take the ramp up to Pennsylvania Ave.) - The road will flow directly into the RFK Access Road, where you will be greeted by parking volunteers. - Please ignore any signs that say “Restricted Access”, “Official Vehicles Only”.
