Gala Raises over $10,000
Capital Rowing Club held its annual Gala in Eastern Market’s North Hall on May 14, 2011. The event included a silent auction, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as well as a gypsy jazz band, The Bitter Dose Combo. Fellow rower Peter Courtney photographed the evening’s festivities.
The Gala was a huge success. The silent auction and ticket sales yielded over $10,000 for the Club. All proceeds are used to cover the Club's operations as a non-profit, volunteer-run organization aiming to provide the most reasonably-priced rowing programs in the Washington, DC area.
The dedication and drive of the Club’s 200+ members made this success possible. Special thanks are extended to President Kelley O'Connell and to fellow Gala Committee Steering Club members Michael Zgoda, Mary Dobmeier, Therea Tenaglia, Jim Smailes, Greg Fuller, Shannon Stichman and Allison Eydt.
